The persecution movie is going really well. People were very excited before the movie release. Now, they have found it to be in line with expectations.
September 10, 2009 (PRESSbooth.ORG) -- The movie, Persecution features a Persian couple played by Romain Duris and Charlotte Gainsbourg who keep talking about their relationship, rather than getting on with the relationship.
Duris plays the role of Daniel, a self governed person who makes a living by renovating apartments. He also takes some time to meet up with people at retirement home. All his quality draws his longtime girlfriend Sonia (Gainsbourg) towards him. Sonia is a girl whose job involves travelling, and she loves doing that.
Daniel has a huge friend list which includes his accountant friend Michel (Gilles Cohen), who remorse’s the fact that he cannot be like his friend Daniel.
Soon Daniel ends up meeting a stranger (Jean Hughes Anglade) who declares his love for Daniel. Daniel is taken by surprise, and he responds violently to this situation.
Throughout the movie, Daniel ends up in strange situations which seem to add up to his existing list of troubles. The readiness of his close associates to place him at the center of their lives makes him feel that he is responsible for all the harassment happening around him.
A nude love scene between Duris and Gainsbourg adds a little more to the entertainment value. However, their constant backbiting grows boring and undesirable.
Daniel's patience towards the stranger who expresses his feelings towards him looks a bit odd though he opens up to him about why he frequently visits the retirement home.
There are many magnetic scenes between Duris and Gainsbourg displaying the anguish of their relationship, and his unbearable nature. Overall, the director’s determination to bring forward such complex relationship and human interaction is worth admiring.
