London, UK, June 8, 2010 (PRESSbooth.ORG) -- Whatsonstage.com, the UK’s biggest theatre and performing arts website today announces the launch of its UK theatre map. For the first time every commercial theatre and all current and upcoming performances have been mapped using Google Maps and the company’s comprehensive database of over 7,000 venues and productions.

The map can be searched by show name, town or county, genre and even performer or writer. So, if you want to know the whereabouts of Lee Mead or Derren Brown, all you need to do is consult the map. Likewise, if you are looking for Kid’s shows in Yorkshire or Shakespeare in Essex, a quick search will reveal Much Ado About Nothing in Brentwood and Romeo and Juliet in Colchester.

The map is a quick and fun way for theatregoers to find out what’s on near them and how far they’ll have to travel to see the shows they want to see.

Whatsonstage.com has one of the biggest and most comprehensive performing arts databases in the country and the new mapping feature is another, highly accessible way into the data.

“This is a great way to find the shows near you and zoom in on the exact production and details you are looking for,” said David Dobson, Whatsonstage.com Managing Director. “Already, during the test phase, we can see that the map encourages site users to stay longer on the search section and gives visitors a broader view of what shows are available in their region. Often theatregoers may be aware of what’s on at their local theatre but may not know that there is a show on, just a short drive away, that they would like to see.”

Whatsonstage.com is the country’s biggest theatre website and also provides listings and web services for a number of private clients in the theatre and media sectors.
