Owen Roberts, head of Callcredit Check comments "The fall in gross mortgage lending is indicative of the tough time that many consumers are facing at present and at Callcredit we've seen a 20pc rise in the number of consumers checking their credit report in a bid to better manage their finances.

London, UK, June 11, 2008 (PRESSbooth.ORG) -- "Worryingly, our own data also shows a 6pc rise in the number of County Court Judgements issues in the first quarter of 2008 against the last quarter of 2007. We would advise consumers who are struggling to make repayments to contact their lender in the first instance or an organisation such as the Consumer Credit Counselling Service to obtain independent advice on the best way forward."
