SkyRFID Inc. announces new Hi Tech Jewellery Theft Prevention UHF RFID Tag. This right sized tag is perfect for company logos on one side and pricing on the other. With an over 6 foot read range this tag has great potential to curtail theft. The existing HF tag has a read range of only 10 inches so this new tag is a super improvement!
July 11, 2008 (PRESSbooth.ORG) -- The matt white tag is right sized at 43 mm x 28 mm and 1 mm thick, just the perfect size to add the store logo on one side and pricing information on the other. The UHF tag comes with a very strong 35 mm black tightly woven string and a small silver clasp for attachment to the jewellery piece. The tag is very easy to attach to jewellery but requires 2 hands to remove due to the clasp configuration.
A store can deploy a single 4 port reader and 4 antennas to provide read zone coverage of their display area. Once the hardware is set up then all you need to do is inventory your valuables, tag them with the new tag and set the reader to read each tag every few seconds. If a tag is not read when it is supposed to be read then the system can lock the doors, sound an alarm, light up a sign or do just about whatever you want to do to be notified that a piece of jewellery is no longer in the reading zone.
Since each antenna is actually a different reading zone it’s very easy to determine where the item is missing from. If there is a need for more detailed information, SkyRFID can provide fixed readers that have tag direction and speed sensing technology so you can really determine where the item is very quickly. Just a short demonstration of the system and having alarms go off and the doors lock automatically would be enough to deter most thieves!
