Beer Stuff Exchange launches on the Twitter platform, providing the world's 100 million Twitter users an easy way to trade their unwanted items for beer.
Launceston, TAS, Australia, August 3, 2010 (PRESSbooth.ORG) -- Beer Stuff Exchange launches on the Twitter platform, providing the world's 100 million Twitter users an easy way to trade their unwanted items for beer.
Australian social media expert and cheepa media founder, Richard Tubb said it is a great example of how the Twitter platform can evolve to compete with established marketing platforms, like eBay.
"In this case, Beer Stuff Exchange is leveraging the increasing popularity of the "beerconomy" (trading goods or services for beer), with the power and reach of Twitter," Mr Tubb said.
"Beer Stuff Exchange is the exciting "Killer App" for Twitter that the world has been waiting for," he said.
Beer Stuff Exchange is a second tier platform built on top of social networking site Twitter. It allows users to advertise products or services they wish to trade for beer (or other drinks). It facilitates local, face to face transactions with buyers and sellers of products and services around the world.
All Twitter users have access to Beer Stuff Exchange for free.
"Beer Stuff Exchange utilises Twitter-- "hash tag" feature that allows users to quickly "tag" and search for tweets with keywords," Mr Tubb said.
"Twitter users simply add a #beersx hash tag with their location to allow fellow Twitter users to easily find their item. For example, a Beverly Hills Twitter user could add any of the following tags: #beersxBeverlyHills #beersxLA #beersxCA.
Multiple hash tags are allowed and provide a way for users to set the geographical area (suburb, city, state, etc.) of where they wish to exchange," he said.
Free signup and additional information is available at the beersx.com web site.
Twitter users can follow @beersx on Twitter.
Beer Stuff Exchange is a wholly owned subsidiary of privately held company drinkcheepa Proprietary Limited and is part of the cheepa media group.
Based in the island state of Tasmania, south of the Australian mainland, Tasmania is the first state in Australia to receive the high speed National Broadband Network (NBN), which utilises Fibre to the Home (FTTH) technology.
