Maidstone, Kent, UK, September 6, 2010 (PRESSbooth.ORG) -- Feed in tariffs are designed to help with the adoption of a number of renewable energy sources which are now being encouraged by many countries. One of these renewable sources which may be helping are PV solar panels installations on the increase because of feed in tariffs on many homes, buildings and other panel systems.
Feed in tariffs may have different provisions such as a guaranteed electricity grid access. This access may cover all or part of the electricity network being power transmission, power generation and distribution. There may be a long term contract covering any electricity being produced and a purchase price for the power.
Photovoltaics use certain types of solar panels which convert solar radiation into electricity which can be fed into the electricity grid. This is classed as a renewable source of energy as it comes from the sun and costs nothing for the sun to make it, so the only cost appears to be the installation and upkeep on the panels.
A large number of countries in the world have embraced this type of technology which is not just found on buildings but also on farm and grazing land, military installations, town street and many other places. As this type of solar installation can be fairly expensive being able to offset some of the cost by selling the electricity back to the grid can help.
Many of the installations are set up to follow the course of the sun throughout the day so as to give maximum generation of electricity. Some disadvantages are that it does not work during the night, is not quite as good on a cloudy day and can be expensive to set up. As it does not work of a night this is one of the reasons the system is also attached to an electricity grid.
