July 18, 2011 (PRESSbooth.ORG) -- Google said in the official blog, Google will work with Mozilla and Opera browsers developers to hope they will support this technology in their own browsers. WebRTC is a real-time video communications technology inside the browser, Google in 2010 acquired GlobalIPSolutions company with $ 68.2 million and got the technology. This time Google opened WebRTC software video and audio source code, and plans to integrate this feature WebRTC similar to Skype software into the Chrome browser in the near future, as long as the browser supports, Chrome users can realize real-time video chat under the premise of not installing any extensions and plug-ins.

Gmail, or will be the biggest beneficiaries after the Chrome browser integrating WebRTC. Currently, Gmail has a voice and video chat feature, but users need to install the Google proprietary plug-in, which to some extent caused the inconvenience for users.

At present, Internet audio and video communication services technology are generally proprietary technology, which need to install plug-ins or desktop clients to achieve communication. But Google wants the browser to directly create a video or voice chat application, which is out of the reasons Google open source code of WebRTC.
