Pat Fairhead is a contemporary artist whose goal is to paint light so that it is both exciting and mysterious. In her current work, 'Water' she continues her lifelong fascination with the light, energy, color and mood on and in water, of cascades and still depths, always looking for another river, lake, stream, ocean, waterfall or spring, from wind-driven rain to snow.
New York, NY, USA, September 29, 2011 (PRESSbooth.ORG) -- Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature British-born artist, Pat Fairhead, in Beyond Borders: an Exhibition of Fine Art from Canada. The exhibition is scheduled to run from October 7, 2011 through October 28, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, October 13, 2011).
About the Artist Ablaze with color, Pat Fairhead paints cascading images of light and mystery, creating large, sweeping watercolor paintings that are at once elemental and abstract. Choppy white splatters of paint arc in linear explosions across Fairhead’s atmospheric fields and fogs of hue as she references the forces of wind, water, and rocky coastal shorelines, discovering strength in the structures and cycles of nature. Bringing together great texture and depth, on a larger scale than one expects to find in a watercolor, the artist pushes the boundaries of her medium, finding inspiration in the intensity of her creative process. Born in Yorkshire, England, Pat Fairhead came to Canada as a child and quickly fell in love with the country’s untamed wilderness, locating her studio in the scenic and secluded beauty of Muskoka, Ontario. An active and adventurous spirit, she is a dedicated outdoorswoman and world traveller, exhibits extensively throughout both Great Britain and Canada and is featured in the Royal Collection of Prints and Drawings at Windsor Castle.
