Don't Ask About Salary in Your Interview

Management - HR- V Capital - Finance
Don't ask about salary in your interview – but make sure you do your homework. IT Jobs for Graduates launches webcast to help graduates through the interview maze.

UK, July 28, 2008 (PRESSbooth.ORG) -- Graduates wanting a career in technology are advised not to ask about salary during their job interview, but to make sure they are fully prepared in terms of knowing about the company, the industry in which it operates and the position available.  These are some of the guidelines offered by www.itjobsforgraduates.com, part of the online recruitment network (www.theitjobboard.co.uk), in its new webcast aimed at helping graduates through the recruitment process.

'The Graduate Recruitment Process Explained' is the first in a series of educational online guides launched by www.itjobsforgraduates.com.  As well as offering advice from the company itself, it features graduate recruitment specialists from financial advisory company KPMG and global trading systems software specialist, Fidessa.  Topics covered include what happens once the candidate has left the interview, whether IT is a good career in view of the current outsourcing trend and how  graduates with a non-IT degree can get a foothold in the technology sector.

Teresa Sperti, marketing manager at www.itjobsforgraduates.com explains:  “The recruitment process can be daunting at the best of times, and this is especially so for graduates who don't yet have any experience and therefore don't know what to expect.  Our aim is to arm university leavers with the knowledge they need so that they can find the position that is right for them – and give themselves a good starting point on the IT career ladder.”

'The Graduate Recruitment Process' can be viewed at

The next www.itjobsforgraduates.com webcast will cover internships, and this will be followed by one on interview questions.  Graduates will be encouraged to forward the links to their friends, as well as provide ideas on topics they would like to see covered in future webcasts.

www.itjobsforgraduates.com's new webcast continues the company's focus on providing practical careers advice.  In 2007, the graduate recruitment specialist launched career guides including ‘The Top Ten Success Characteristics’, ‘The Top Ten Major Waves to Surf in IT’ and ‘Prospective Employers, what to look for'.

www.itjobsforgraduates.com is the only job board on the market to cater solely for graduates wanting to work in technology. Its selection of more than 1200 IT-only positions across a range of industry sectors offered by a variety of key graduate recruiters including Bloomberg, Cap Gemini, EDS and Morgan Stanley, ensures that newly-qualified job seekers do not have to search through extensive lists of irrelevant posts in order to find those which are suitable.

The site is part of the IT Job Board group of online recruitment sites which was set up in April 2002 in recognition that recruitment in the IT sector was increasingly dominated by the internet.  It is now one of the leading IT specific job boards in the UK and Europe and forms part of the S3 Group.
