Michael Weiss Speaks on Modernism Collection

International designer makes personal appearance at Robb n Stucky Interiors in Boca Raton

Boca Raton, FL, USA, April 7, 2010 (PRESSbooth.ORG) -- Michael Weiss launched his new Modernism Collection this spring, making a personal appearance at the Robb & Stucky Interiors showroom in Boca Raton in March to meet with staff and customers alike. The collection, which reflects the international designer’s love for 19th and 20th century classic Modern style, is available at Robb & Stucky locations nationwide.

“Michael’s furniture appeals to consumers who appreciate interior objects as functional sculpture…objects to be used and enjoyed daily,” said Kris Kolar, ASID, vice president of Interior Design for Robb & Stucky.

Weiss’s benchmark Modern furniture group, created for Vanguard in 2000, refocused industry and consumer attention back to Modern design. His designs continue to appeal to a new generation of collectors who are selecting investment quality furniture. “They want their homes to reflect individuality, style and taste,” Weiss pointed out.

Having grown up in the design business founded by his mother, renowned designer Lillian August, and brothers John and Dan Weiss, Michael felt he too had an artistic side and followed his instinct. At 24, he went out on his own as a designer after receiving formal training in Fine Art and Design at the Julliard School in New York, and studying at the University of Montpellier in France.

“Modern demonstrates a reverence for classic design style periods of history and decorative art,” Weiss explained. “I have always focused on the return to classic sensibility when it comes to scale, proportion and the use of color.”

Continuing, he said, “Design is a visual experience. It should be approachable, free and easy.”

Having created an enormous lexicon of Modern classics over the past decade, Weiss is a designer who commands attention. Pieces from his collection can be introduced into your home, no matter what your decorating style may be.
