Bend, OR, USA, September 22, 2011 (PRESSbooth.ORG) -- Art in Public Places, which has been placing art in the Bend, Oregon community since 1973, recently announced the addition of Romy Mortensen as a member of its board of directors. Mortensen will be working with the rest of the board to fulfill the organization’s mission of enhancing the cultural environment and quality of life for the citizens of Bend and encouraging visitors to the area through art.

Sue Hollern, who also serves on the Art in Public Places board, said, “Romy brings energy, enthusiasm, professionalism and a vast knowledge of the Bend community to our board.  We feel most fortunate that she has chosen to be the newest member of Art in Public Places.”

Mortensen is currently the vice president of sales and marketing for Brooks Resources Corporation, a real estate developer that has created some of the most recognizable communities in Central Oregon. She also serves on the boards of Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB), West Bend Property Company, Friends with Flowers and High Desert Bank.

The piece, The Cutting Board by Bruce West, is made of burnished stainless steel and features a cutting board topped with a pear, knife and wedge of cheese.

The Art in Public Places program was initially created through the donations of the Bend Foundation, a private non-profit organization established by Brooks-Scanlon, Inc., Brooks Resources Corporation, and their shareholders. In addition to Mortensen, members of Art in Public Places include Sue Hollern, Cristy Lanfri and Jody Ward.
